The TT600 was Triumph's first direct assault on a mainstream sector of the motorcycle market. Aimed at providing Triumph with a mass-market middleweight sportsbike, the TT600 had a tough challenge ahead - the 600cc sportsbike class is the most closely contested, and the existing Japanese contenders were intensely well-developed machines.

Triumph followed conventional motorcycle engineering practice with the TT600. A 16-valve, liquid-cooled inline-four engine in an aluminium twin-spar frame is a specification shared with every other bike in this class,

The TT2 and later TT1. These spectacular machines were similar to Tony Rutter's four-time World TT2 Championship-winning TT2 racers. Modeled closely after the factory TT2, the production version also featured a 597cc engine using special two-ring Borgo pistons (weighing only 408 grams). via motorcyclespecs

The Buell InterActive Exhaust system utilizes a valve in the dual- chamber muf fler that is controlled by the ECM and adjusts exhaust flow according to riding conditions to smooth torque
